United Nigeria Airlines accepts VDM, Mr Jollof Public Apologies Over In-Flight royal RUMBLE

United Nigeria Airlines has officially accepted the public apologies tendered by social media influencers Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) and comedian Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) following their physical confrontation aboard Flight UN0523.

The altercation, which occurred on November 17, 2025, during boarding at Asaba International Airport in Delta State, resulted in both personalities being removed from the aircraft and handed over to security authorities.

In a statement released on Thursday, the airline acknowledged the remorseful gestures made by both men through their respective social media platforms.

“United Nigeria Airlines acknowledges and accepts the public apologies issued by VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof following the onboard altercation that occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 from Asaba International Airport to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on November 17, 2025,” the airline stated.

The carrier noted their commitment to refrain from conduct that could jeopardize aviation safety, adding, “We trust that this undertaking will be honoured in the interest of maintaining a safe, respectful, and orderly travel environment for all passengers.”

The Incident

Videos circulating online showed the two exchanging blows inside the aircraft cabin, causing panic among fellow travelers. The airline’s spokesperson, Chibuike Uloka, confirmed that crew members responded immediately in accordance with global aviation safety protocols to de-escalate the situation.

Both passengers were deboarded without delay to ensure the safety and comfort of other passengers and crew members. The flight departed safely after they were handed to airport security for investigation.

The confrontation reportedly stemmed from a longstanding social media feud between the two personalities that dates back to 2024, when VeryDarkMan publicly threatened to confront Mr Jollof if they ever crossed paths.

Public Apologies

VeryDarkMan, appearing in an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, took full responsibility for the disruption. He apologized to fellow passengers, the flight crew, and even families aboard the aircraft.

“I would really like to apologise for what happened yesterday on the United Nigerian Airlines. What happened yesterday was not supposed to happen, and I will take full responsibility for it,” he stated.

While admitting he acted irresponsibly, the social media critic stopped short of guaranteeing no future altercations, stating only that such incidents would not recur in public transportation settings.

Mr Jollof, in his Instagram apology, clarified that he was merely defending himself during the scuffle. He revealed that he bit VeryDarkMan in self-defense during the physical exchange.

“I want to use this medium to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers. I was only defending myself. I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment,” he said, extending apologies to his wife and children.
