Bishop David Oyedepo Mobilizes Christians for Midnight Prayers Following Deadly Church Invasions

24th November, 2025

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has issued a strong call to Nigerian Christians to take spiritual charge through intensive prayer as attacks on churches escalate nationwide.

Oyedepo made the impassioned appeal on Sunday during the 4th Pre-Shiloh Encounter Service, expressing grave concerns over recent violent attacks that have left worshippers dead and others abducted from church premises.

The respected cleric revealed he has been warning about Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation for the past 15 years, but noted that recent developments have compelled him to speak again following divine prompting.

“Developments in the past two weeks, particularly in Nigeria, are worrisome to say the least. There is need for a prompt response in prayers to stop the killings once and for all,” Bishop Oyedepo declared. “You can’t trade people’s lives for your comfort.”

The Bishop strongly condemned the recent invasion of a church during worship service where people were killed and abducted, questioning how such an attack could occur without consequences. He announced plans for midnight prayer sessions, urging every member of his church to participate in what he described as a “midnight raid” against perpetrators.

“Every member of this church should be awake one hour before violence descends to anarchy in Nigeria,” he stated. “The God of justice is rising.”

Citing Genesis 12:3, Oyedepo emphasized that God provides biblical reasons why the wicked should be cursed in prayers, adding that “all the innocent blood shared is speaking vengeance and all the perpetrators will pay with their lives.”

The Bishop reinforced his deep connection to Nigeria, declaring himself fully Nigerian and asserting that “no one is more Nigerian than myself.” He stressed that while power passes power, no power supersedes the power of God.

Quoting Psalm 85:8, Oyedepo assured Christians that when God speaks, peace accompanies His words, and He will not allow His people to return to folly. “When God steps in, the pride of men is cut. Every arrogance will be cut down,” he proclaimed. “Nigeria will never descend into chaos.”

The Living Faith Church leader described his message as coming “from the burning spirit of a prophet,” warning that divine justice would be meted out to those responsible for acts of violence, kidnapping, and terrorism against Christian communities.

This follows earlier threats by US President Donald Trump to take military action against Nigeria if the Federal Government fails to halt what he described as Christian genocide in the country.
