Davido’s ‘5ive Tour’ Brings Ibadan to Standstill with 25,000-Strong Crowd

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, delivered a monumental performance to a capacity crowd of 25,000 fans at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) in Ibadan on November 9, 2025.

The sold-out concert, a key highlight of the Grammy-nominated artist’s nationwide ‘5ive Tour,’ transformed the ancient city into an electrifying hub of music and celebration that stretched until the early hours of November 10.

The historic event, which kicked off with opening acts from local talents including Oberz, Dremo, and Zlatan Ibile, received full backing from the Oyo State Government through its Agency for Youth Development. Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside his Osun State counterpart, Governor Ademola Adeleke, graced the occasion, underscoring the cultural and economic significance of the event.

In a gesture reflecting his administration’s commitment to youth engagement and creative sector growth, Governor Makinde approved the distribution of thousands of free tickets to young residents across Oyo State, making the concert accessible to a wider demographic.

The OBO crooner commanded the stage for over two hours, performing more than 40 songs from his extensive discography. The performance marathon concluded around 3 a.m. with his Grammy-nominated collaboration “With You” featuring Omah Lay, leaving the audience spellbound.

Throughout the night, Davido captivated fans with renditions of his chart-topping hits including “Aye,” “Gobe,” “Fire,” “Unavailable,” “Feel,” “Holy Ground,” “FIA,” and the iconic “Omo Baba Olowo.” The stadium resonated with thousands of voices singing in unison as fans illuminated the venue with their mobile phone lights.

In one of the evening’s most poignant moments, the superstar paused his set to dedicate “With You” to his late son, prompting a wave of soft singing, raised phone lights, and heartfelt applause from the audience.

The concert also featured surprise guest performances from DMW associates Mayorkun and B-Red, who joined Davido on stage to the delight of the ecstatic crowd.

A viral highlight came when popular online personality and devoted Davido fan, Trinity Guy, was invited on stage during the performance of “FIA.” The comedian’s overwhelming excitement saw him rolling on the floor and clinging to the artist’s leg in unbridled joy, creating one of the night’s most talked-about moments across social media platforms.

Also in attendance was renowned Fuji musician Taye Currency, alongside notable personalities from Nigeria’s entertainment industry including Asa Asika, Lati DMW, and Bankulli. The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Olumide Egbedun, was also spotted at the event.

Beyond entertainment value, the concert demonstrated significant economic impact on Ibadan, with local businesses, hotels, vendors, and transport operators experiencing increased patronage as fans traveled from across Nigeria to witness the spectacle.

The Ibadan show marks the fourth stop on Davido’s ambitious Nigerian tour, which began at the 30,000-capacity Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on October 26, before moving to Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Adamawa State on October 29, and Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on November 1.

The ‘5ive Tour,’ celebrating his fifth studio album and over a decade of musical dominance, is scheduled to culminate with a grand finale in Lagos on December 25, 2025, promising another spectacular showcase for Nigerian music enthusiasts.
