Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Regina Daniels has publicly demanded to know the whereabouts of her brother, Sammy West (also known as Sammy), while openly calling on her husband, Ned Nwoko — a Nigerian Senator — to account for his role in the matter. In an emotionally charged post on Wednesday, the actress used the hashtag #FreeSammy and made a direct appeal: “WHERE IS SAMMY NED!!!” She added: “Imagine one of the highest authorities in the police force, or if not the highest, saying his hands are tied! Like ogini bu ihe!!” She concluded: “Now this fight is going to be power for power or rather AURA for AURA! It’s such a pity #freesammy”.
In her post the actress clarified: “I don’t regret anything. Na only me carry my leg enter but this was a route I was meant to take, not my final destination!!” She also addressed her emotional state: “Ps: I know I look skinny stressed, ugly af but kinda pretty shaaaa. Life is supposed to be experienced and that’s what I’m doing.” Her message comes amid escalating public tension within her family and marital life.
According to recent posts by Sammy’s older brother Sweezy Daniels (known as Sweezy), Sammy is reportedly being held without access to food or water, and that his release is being conditioned on Regina returning to Nwoko’s home. Sweezy alleged that Sammy was arrested in Lagos on November 3 and whisked to Abuja on November 4 and is currently detained at the Ogombo Police Station in Lekki, Ajah. He went further to accuse Senator Nwoko of targeting the siblings and warned that “if anything happens to Regina, Sammy or Destiny, hold Ned Nwoko responsible”.
Additional reporting states that Sammy earlier challenged the legitimacy of a police invitation via WhatsApp from the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, which listed alleged offences such as criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, theft and cyber-bullying. The invitation used a mis-spelled name and raised questions about procedure. Meanwhile the Lagos State Police Command clarified that it did not carry out the arrest of Sammy but said the officers involved came from Abuja with a warrant.
The entire saga adds to the already fraught public narrative around Regina Daniels’ marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, which has been under scrutiny amid allegations of domestic violence, substance misuse accusations and family strife. Regina’s brother Sweezy has dismissed the senator’s claims that the actress was involved in drug abuse, insisting she is not affiliated in any way and emphasising that “no marriage without problems”. The senator’s camp has not issued an official detailed response.
